Originally introduced to North America as a form of erosion control, kudzu is a fast-growing invasive species that overtakes everything in its path. Known as "the vine that ate the south," Kudzu spreads quickly, growing at a rate of one foot per day with mature vines as long as 100 feet. This vine completely covers trees, shrubs, and grasses, shading them from the sunlight they need to photosynthesize, negatively affecting the biodiversity of the area and potentially leading to the loss of habitats and species extinction.
